We are having a problem with our RV converter – it’s the gizmo that converts the 120V AC power to 12V DC power and it also recharges the RV battery. You might think that since we’re plugged into a power source at our campsite, that having a charged battery is not a big deal. So did I until quirky stuff started happening.
When I turned on just one or two lights, the lights mysteriously began to flicker – it was like being in a disco. I had to run around and turn on more lights to get the flickering to stop.
Also, since it’s turned cold, we’ve had the furnace on. With all the lights off at night, apparently the furnace blower tries to run off the battery. I would wake up to hear the blower cycling on and off about every 2 seconds. I had to jump up and turn on enough lights for the converter to kick in – did you know that it’s hard to sleep in a well-lit room? At least we were warm :o)
Dennis, the RV tech, has a part on order which he says will fix the problem – sure hope it comes it today!
