Jim mentioned over lunch yesterday, “I had an epiphany about the house at 3 a.m. this morning.” Talking about houses is a hobby for us since we’ve been house hunting, so I was eager to hear more.
There is some background information you need to fully understand Jim’s epiphany. If we close on this house, there is some work that we have to do before we can have all our belongings delivered from storage…new flooring, stripping popcorn ceilings, etc.
We’ve been figuring that we would just continue to live in the camper while we do the renovation work. This is where Jim’s epiphany comes in.
“We could take the mattress from our bed in the camper and put it in the house. We could buy a new mattress for K to use now and then put it in the guest room later. And we could buy a range and just plug it in somewhere until we redo the kitchen. That way we could start staying in the house while we work on it.”
As we discussed the idea, it really grew on me…there’s a lot of stuff at the camper that we could temporarily put into the house – a table and 4 chairs, TV, satellite dish, grill and more. We could spread O-U-T…camping in a 2850 sq. ft. house beats camping in a 400 sq. ft. RV any day.
Now if we can just get that closing scheduled…
