If you’re not familiar with our on-going house hunting saga, we are waiting to close on a house which is in foreclosure. Of all the hurdles to clear, we are down to the last one — waiting for the IRS to issue a Certificate of Release of Federal Tax Lien.
When I talked to the listing agent Richard on Wednesday of last week, he was in the process of gathering and forwarding documentation the IRS wanted. We extended the sales contract for the umpteenth time to expire tomorrow, Feb. 11th. I sent an email to Richard yesterday asking for an update on where the IRS was in the process. He sent back a couple of emails in reply.
He said that the IRS had wanted additional documentation showing no ability to draw on an equity line of credit which the seller had and that he had sent that paperwork over the day before. He also said that the IRS confirmed that they would be sending him the lien release either yesterday or today, but that he translated that it would actually be today or tomorrow. He also said that he thought we could close on Monday, and that he’d let us know. As for me, I am still waiting for that pig to fly by my window 😮
And as a P.S. which has nothing to do with house hunting, my blog giveaway winner, Sonja, picked out the charm she wanted from Cell Chic. Good choice, Sonja — it’s the same one I have on my phone 😮
