…because we closed YESTERDAY!!! Sorry, I couldn’t resist 😮 We were preparing for a Monday closing, and at about noon I got an email from the listing agent… he thought we might be able to close that very afternoon — were we interested? Jim and I thought it would be great to have the weekend to do a few things, the main thing being installing a back door. By the way, the poll is now closed, and it was a tie between the 9-Lite and the 15-Lite, so once it’s installed, I’ll post a picture of our final choice 😮
We decided to try for a closing yesterday afternoon — my head was spinning as I tried to figure out how to get everything done, my main concern being wiring the funds to the title company before the close of the business day and getting insurance on the house. I needed to work all that around getting K. to her classes, picking her up and getting her to her massage therapy appointment at 5:00.
I dropped her off and headed up to the insurance agent’s office. We had spoken previously, so it didn’t take very long to get the homeowners insurance lined up. After that I went back to K.’s school to pick her up — all the while, there was a flurry of phone calls between me and our real estate agent, the listing agent, and hubby.
K. and I dashed to the bank, where we had to wait to see a customer service rep. At this point, it got really hairy – we were very close to the cut-off time for sending a wire. Also, I knew I wouldn’t have time to sign the closing papers until AFTER K.’s appointment, because I needed to go straight from the bank to the chiropractor’s office.
The listing agent had an idea – ask the bank person to print out our closing documents; then I could sign them and leave, hubby could come over and sign them, and then someone from the agent’s office would pick them up to get them to the seller. So that’s what we did – hubby actually arrived while I was signing, and then the listing agent’s wife arrived just as Jim finished signing.
A call from the listing agent later confirmed that the sellers had signed and everything was forwarded to the title company. Jim met the agent at the house this morning and picked up keys, garage door openers and keypad codes…WE NOW OWN A HOUSE – HOORAY!!
