Night before last, our southside neighbor knocked on the door at about 8 p.m. She and her husband had noticed water spraying from pipes outside our house, and wanted to let us know. We rushed outside to take a look…there was a leak in the main water supply line to our house, and it was gushing! Jim shut off the water supply and dashed off to Home Depot before they closed. He was back with a repair kit and had it fixed by 9:00…did I mention that I love being married to a handy guy?
Here is the 2″ section of pipe that Jim removed. The leak was a perfect little hole – I don’t know how it could have gotten there…Jim accused the Internet cable guy of doing it, right after he cut our satellite dish line *LOL*!
Here’s the repair job – what a pretty sight! I know, we’re odd 😮 The little gizmo hubby used to fix it was a SharkBite slip coupling.
And while we’re on the subject of pipes… I ran the cleaning solution through the icemaker, but several of the plastic pipes still have mildew in them, so we will have to take the icemaker apart and either clean or replace them. For now, we’re making ice the old-fashioned way, with trays in the freezer – it works 😮
