Countdown to Cool Air

The guys from the A/C company arrived bright and early this morning.  They worked throughout the day and will come back in the morning to finish up.

They did set the new compressors in place, and boy, are they big — they look like twin rockets on a launch pad…guess we’re on a countdown to some cool air 😮

It doesn’t help that they had to be raised about a foot due to the fact that our house is in a flood zone. But, these puppies will definitely do the job for us.

There were a few minor glitches — when I went to use my dryer it wouldn’t work. Since the breakers aren’t labeled well, the guy had just flipped all the big ones off. It took a few rounds of “Does it work now?” “No!” “Now?” “No!” “Now?” “No!” to finally get it back on.

They also found that they couldn’t get one air handler through the garage attic opening…they ended up enlarging a hole in the ceiling where the drywall had been damaged due to a leak.

Other than that, all seemed to go well. I am sleep deprived due to staying up late to work on taxes…I don’t think it would be any better if we hired someone to do them, because the really tough part now is the information gathering — I’d have to do that even if we gave them to an accountant.

I saw a really great bird today and rushed outside with my zoom lens. He didn’t seem bothered by my presence until I stood right at the edge of the creek, and then he swam away.

According to my field guide, I think he was a brown pelican…I just love the beak on this guy!
