Just a little update on what’s going on with the house…last weekend, we checked out the irrigation system for the first time – nothing worked! Not exactly a surprise. There were missing heads and cracked pipes galore.
By the end of the weekend, Jim had 3 of the 4 zones working, and he hopes to finish up today.
And speaking of the irrigation system, Jim discovered that we have reclaimed water available for irrigation in Largo, but we’re not tapped into it. He asked me to check on what it would take to get hooked up…yesterday I spoke with a lady named Robin in the Reclaimed Water Dept. and she was really helpful – she said that someone would come by that afternoon to leave an application, which we needed to fill out and return. Once they have that, they will issue us a permit, normally a $125 fee, but right now they’re waiving that. They will also come out and put in an installation kit which we will tap in to…once we’re hooked up, someone from Reclaimed Water and also the county water dept. will come out for an inspection. Then for $10 a month, we will have all the water we need for irrigation…sounds like a good deal!
In other news, Jim has begun working on realigning the master bathroom/hallway wall:
We’re bringing the wall out a little to make a linen closet…hubby will have to move the light switches, which will be an interesting challenge.
We’re also researching custom closets so that we can get the closet/hallway wall back up…we would really like wood, instead of wire racks. As I suspected, they are pretty pricey! Fortunately we can keep our price to a minimum by doing the installation ourselves.
And finally, Jim finished stripping the last of the popcorn texture in the master bedroom last Tuesday – YAY!
