Roses in Bloom

Look closely at this rose bush and see if you can find something that doesn’t belong…if you can’t guess what it is, I’ll tell you at the end of this post.

This rose bush is such a delight – at first there were no blooms and we were just guessing at what kind of plant it was. It hung over the front walk and Jim gave it a good trimming not long after we moved in. Then one day K. and I noticed the first rose bud…we checked its progress each day, and admired it as it burst into bloom. Not long after that, another bud showed up, then another, ’til finally the bush was all filled out and covered in roses. Every time we go in or out the front door, we smell the wonderful scent!

Did you guess what doesn’t belong in the picture? Take a close look at the very top and bottom of the bush…there is an oak tree growing in there! While I do appreciate plant volunteers, this one is going to have to go – it’s right in the middle of the rose bush, and under the eaves of the house.

Fantastic! Those roses are mature plants! How fortunate to enjoy their richly colored blooms. 🙂
    Happy Easter!

I think those are red knockouts like mine. If so, you will have blooms til after frost.

It’s beautiful – so many flowers on it! Your hubby did the right thing pruning it back when you moved in to the house – now look at it!
btw, I noticed some different leaves that didn’t belong to the rose bush, but I didn’t recognize it was an oak tree! Gotta get that out!
